I don’t know where I first heard the phrase, “it doesn’t have to be perfect; just make it exist”, but it’s definitely the motivation behind my first post.
I’ve wanted to create a blog since I was a teen, and at one point in my early 20’s I did sort of succeed with this goal. However, life at that age was tumultuous and thus I eventually withdrew from sharing most of my thoughts or feelings altogether (let alone on a public site). Most of my friends and family are still unaware of the circumstances I experienced, but, I am in a much better place now and feel ready to approach this dream once again.
I don’t really have a single goal for writing. I’m just a girl who fell in love with life, and I have been given the incredible opportunity to study overseas in Japan for my PhD. I’ve been here for almost nine months and have unfortunately shared very little of my journey with anyone outside of my close family and friends. I find it difficult to update everyone individually, and social media like Facebook or Instagram never feels like the “right” place to post.
My idea for this blog is to share my story and adventures from my personal point of view (and maybe my husband’s perspective as well). Eventually, I will be sharing photos of pets, fun creatures I’ve seen, temples and shrines I’ve visited, food and café’s I’ve enjoyed, research and neuroscience I’m working on, and randomness and fun in-between!
I hope some of my posts help bring joy to my readers who decide to join me along this ride. And if you’ve read this far, thank you so much! I’m excited for this new project.
